1. Configure the SensorTag and the IoT Foundation
In this section, you configure your Texas Instruments (TI) SensorTag to send readings and device events to the IBM IoT Foundation platform.
A SensorTag is an IoT- ready small device with multiple sensors that can be connected to the Watson IoT platform.
- On your mobile phone or tablet, install the SimpleLink TI SensorTag application.
- Start the SensorTag application on your phone or tablet.
- If the app does not list your SensorTag, press the Start Broadcast button on the SensorTag for 3 seconds.
- Select the SensorTag from the list.
- Select the Cloud configuration For Android, select ‘Advanced’.
- Note the device mac (media access control) address for the SensorTag.
- Select the All Then, select IBM IoTF Quickstart.
- Click Save in the upper right of the window.
- For non-Android phones only: Go back to the device list.
- For non-Android phones only: Select Sensor View.
- Select Push to Cloud in the top right of the window.
- Select anywhere on the row, for example, on the cloud.
You see the IBM IoTF Quickstart URL. For Android, click Open in Browser below Push to Cloud. - Click the quickstart URL to open the quickstart webpage on your device. If you want, you can open the quickstart page on a browser on any computer.
- Notice the sensor values being sent to the IoT Foundation page. You will use these values to detect when the sensor moves.
- Rotate the SensorTag and note the changes in the accelX, accelY, and accelZ values.If you are using an Android device, the values will be acc_x, acc_y, and acc_z.
