This comprehensive functional training is designed to enable participants to independently configure, customize, and manage the core business processes within the IBM Sterling Order Management System deployed on the Next Generation Cloud Platform (OMOC). The focus is on translating complex business requirements (omnichannel fulfillment, inventory visibility, returns) into actionable configurations using the Application Manager, Sterling Business Center, and Order Hub. The course emphasizes best practices for maintaining cloud-upgrade compatibility.

Module 1: OMOC Functional Architecture & Application Tools
  • Introduction to the Order Management Life Cycle and OMS Core Modules.
  • Functional overview of the OMOC Next Generation Platform (NGP).
  • UI Deep Dive:
    • Applications Manager (System Setup): Overview and core configuration areas.
    • Sterling Business Center (Catalog/Pricing): Functional usage.

  • Item Administration: Configuring Item Types, Attributes, Units of Measure, and Services.
  • Catalog Management: Configuring Catalogs, Categories, and Item visibility.

Module 4: Global Inventory Visibility (GIV) and Availability
  • Inventory Foundation: Defining Inventory Organization, Distribution Groups, and Monitor Rules.
  • Configuring Inventory Feeds (Supply/Demand Types) and Sync mechanisms.
  • Real-Time Availability Monitor (RTAM): Setup and functional implications of different RTAM modes.
  • Available-to-Promise (ATP): Defining and configuring ATP rules, including capacity checks.
  • Managing Inventory Adjustments and Node Capacity via Order Hub.
Module 5: Distributed Order Management (DOM) and Sourcing
  • Order Pipeline Design: Reviewing the default Order Creation and Fulfillment Pipelines.
  • Order Types and Order Flow: Configuring Sales Order Types, Document Types, and Statuses.
  • Sourcing Rules: Setting up complex sourcing criteria (cost, proximity, capacity, inventory segmentation).
  • Implementing Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) strategies:
    • Ship-from-Store (SFS) and Buy Online, Pickup In Store (BOPIS).
    • Drop Ship Vendor (DSV) integration setup.
  • Using the DOM Optimizer for scheduling and sourcing execution.
Module 6: Order Orchestration and Process Modeling
  • Statuses and Transitions: Defining custom order and line statuses.
  • Transactions and Events: Understanding how transactions (e.g., Release, Schedule) move the order.
  • Service Definition Framework (SDF): Functionally configuring basic services and transactions (e.g., email notification services).
